MY Commute Lake County Study
Tell us about your commute: Take the MY Commute Lake County Survey
A large percentage of transportation in Lake County involves one person driving from Point A to Point B in their own vehicle. You drive where you want to drive. Parking usually isn't hard to find. And if you are going to Chicago, you may consider taking a train.
As a transportation department, we build and maintain roads to make your trips safer and hopefully quicker. But it’s also our job to plan for what transportation might look like in the future.
As part of its 2019 Strategic Plan, the Lake County Board made it a priority to focus on transportation solutions that provide alternatives to travel in single-occupancy vehicles, which is one person in a vehicle at a time. The goal is to develop a plan that reduces trip times, air pollution and carbon emissions, protects our valuable open space and positions Lake County to be competitive in a 21st-century economy. One way to do this is reducing single-occupancy vehicle trips.
As an important step in this process, we need your input. We invite you to take part in our MY Commute Lake County study, and tell us how you normally commute to work, school or other frequent destinations.
We know that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted commuting right now, and its impacts will be considered through this study. While Lake County initially saw a significant decrease in traffic during the beginning of the pandemic, traffic has steadily been returning back to normal over the last few months.
Your participation will provide valuable information to achieve our goals of reducing traffic congestion and helping our planet well after the COVID-19 pandemic has passed. Biking, trains, buses, carpooling, services like Uber and Lyft and much more will all be analyzed through this study.
