Health Department Coronavirus Update

Lake County, Ill. —The Lake County Health Department is reporting 498 additional cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and 18 new deaths in Lake County since Friday. This brings the total number of Lake County COVID-19 cases to 4,292 including 145 deaths (as of May 4, 2020, 1:30 p.m.).

The Health Department is investigating 33 long-term care facilities in the county that have two or more positive cases. These 33 facilities have a combined total of 614 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 93 deaths.

A state-operated Community Based Testing Site opened in Waukegan as of Sunday, May 3. The site will be open every day from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., or until 500 tests are completed each day. The testing site is located at 2161 Northwestern Avenue. Testing is free.

"In the first two days of operation, nearly 1,000 COVID-19 tests have been administered at the new Waukegan testing facility,” said Lake County Health Department Executive Director Mark Pfister. "This is a terrific resource for our residents and the demand is very high, so please expect long wait times. As a reminder, testing continues to be available at many local healthcare facilities, and residents are encouraged to contact their provider to inquire about testing.”
