FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Waukegan, Illinois

This Thursday, April 23rd, Lake County Government partners will be accepting donations of non-perishable items from 11 am until 1 pm at the Lake County Government/Courthouse Building (18 N. County, Waukegan). There will be no need to exit a vehicle, simply open your trunk and volunteers who will be wearing a mask and gloves will take the donation. At the completion of this drive, staff from Lake County Facilities will deliver all donations to the Northern Illinois Food Bank location in Park City.

“No one should go hungry during the COVID-19 pandemic. With school closures, job disruptions, and health risks, our Lake County residents are some of the millions of Americans who are turning to food banks for support. The 19th Judicial Circuit, Lake County Government officials, the Lake County State’s Attorney Office, the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, and the Lake County Circuit Clerk’s Office are asking the community to assist us with helping at a time of need and food insecurity,” said Chief Judge Diane Winter.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank is a source of nutritious food, innovative feeding programs, and hope for more than half a million people each year. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a goal of solving hunger in a 13-county service area, Northern Illinois Food Bank relies on its generous donors, volunteers, and community partners – the local food pantries and feeding programs, food manufacturers and retailers, companies, foundations and individuals who join with the organization in its vision for no one to be hungry in Northern Illinois.
