Charges against Beach Park man upgraded
(Lake County, IL) Lake County States Attorney Michael G. Nerheim has approved charges of first degree murder against George W. Bryce, 21, of Beach Park, after the 70-year-old victim died at Vista East Medical Center at 1:28 p.m. Friday.
Bryce is scheduled to appear in Lake County bond court at 9 a.m. Saturday on the new charges.
Bryce is still scheduled to return to courtroom T-110 on Tuesday, July 23, at 9 a.m. for status of attorney. However, that court date may change pending the outcome of Saturday's court appearance.
The investigation continues and additional charges are possible.

(Lake County, IL) Lake County State's Attorney Michael G. Nerheim approved a felony criminal charge of attempted murder for George W. Bryce, 21, of the 12900 block of Peacock Road in Beach Park. Bryce appeared before Lake County Associate Judge Paul D. Novak Friday morning and was issued a court case number of 19cf1589.
Following the brief hearing, Judge Novak ordered Bryce held in Lake County Jail on $2 million bail. If Bryce is able to post the required 10 percent bond, Judge Novak ordered he not have contact with witnesses involved in the case, not possess any weapons, and refrain from consuming drugs or alcohol.
Bryce is due back in courtroom T-110 on Tuesday, July 23, at 9 a.m. for status of attorney.
