Boil Order Lifted for Portions of Vernon Hills, Forest Haven and Mettawa Areas

The boil order issued for the portions of Vernon Hills, Forest Haven and Mettawa areas has been lifted as of Thursday morning. Test results from Lake County Public Works IEPA certified laboratory confirmed the water in these areas is free of coliform bacteria and is safe to consume. Residents and businesses may return to normal use of their water service.

Sections of the Vernon Hills water system lost pressure and/or water service for about an hour on Tuesday, June 18 due to a mechanical failure at one of the system reservoirs. As a precaution, a boil order notice was issued, and Lake County Public Works collected water samples to test for bacteria and to verify that the water is safe to consume.

Lake County Public Works thanks everyone for their patience over the past two days. More information on the boil order notice can be found at lakecountyil.gov/boilorder

Complete: CLCJAWA Water Line Repairs in Vernon Hills and Wildwood

On Tuesday, CLCJAWA began repairing one of their primary water lines supplying the Vernon Hills and Wildwood water systems. Lake County Public Works asked its customers to conserve their water usage as repairs were being made. These repairs were not directly related to the boil order notice. CLCJAWA has notified Lake County Public Works that the repairs are now complete, and the water restriction has been lifted for these areas.

Those with any questions regarding the CLCJAWA water line repair or the boil order may call Lake County Public Works at 847-377-7500 or send an email to publicworks@lakecountyil.gov.
