Lake County Responding to Hunger Food Drive and Touch-A-Truck Event, July 23

Lake County is once again partnering with the American Public Works Association Lake Branch, the Northern Illinois Food Bank, and the Lake County Sheriff's Office for the second annual countywide food drive! Transportation and Public Works employees from Lake County as well as many agencies in the surrounding communities are collecting food to feed our hungry neighbors. All food donations will be delivered to the Lake County Fairgrounds for a huge Responding to Hunger event with all the participating agencies. Admission to the event is free, but we encourage you to participate in the food drive by bringing non-perishable food items.

Part of the day’s events will include Touch-A-Truck so don't forget to bring the kids; they’ll be able to see all their favorite trucks up close and personal!

Lake County Responding to Hunger/Touch-A-Truck Event:
Tuesday, July 23
8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Lake County Fairgrounds

This event is titled Responding to Hunger in part to promote the role of those in Public Works as first responders during emergency management situations. Lake County's Public Works and Transportation employees play a vital role as first responders. When a crisis strikes or emergencies happen, our employees are right there helping respond alongside police, fire, medical, and other professionals. Join us in responding to hunger in our communities by bringing a donation, coming to see some of our response equipment and meeting some of our professionals who are on the front lines.
