Teen Business Expo Trade Show

Lake County Clerk Robin O'Connor

Lake County Clerk Robin O’Connor (left) and Leatrice Williams, Trade Show Director (right) met at the Teen Business Expo Trade Show at Zion Central Middle School. At the one-day expo, twenty groups of Zion teen-age students presented their small business ideas in an exhibitors showcase with the intent to find buyers for their products and services. Customers, who were visiting business professionals and elected officials, were able to ask the young entrepreneurs about their business plans, profit margins, production methods, and place imaginary orders.

Solicitor Registration in Unincorporated Lake County

Door-to-door sales people working in unincorporated Lake County must register with the Lake County Clerk's office and carry a solicitor’s certificate while on the job. The solicitor's ordinance applies only to unincorporated Lake County and provides exemptions for religious groups, candidates, and minors under the age of eighteen who participate in fundraising activities.

Solicitors are required to:

  • Operate only between the hours of 11 AM and 7 PM
  • Carry own Certificate of Registration bearing an embossed county clerk seal
  • Observe “No Solicitation” signs
  • Respect occupant’s request if asked to leave
  • Deliver photocopy of certificate to Lake County Sheriff's Office, 25 S. Martin Luther King Ave. Jr., Waukegan, Illinois

When a solicitor comes to your home, ask to see the certificate before conducting any business. Report any violations to the Lake County Sheriff’s office (847-549-5200) where fines and penalties can be enforced.

If you live in a municipality or village, check with your local officials for your specific ordinances.

2018 Tax Extension Reports Ready mid-June

The 2018 Equalized Assessed Value (EAV) Reports for all Lake County taxing districts will be posted on the Lake County Clerk's website by mid-June.

Your property’s EAV is the mathematical result of your assessed property value (both land and improvements) and the Illinois Department of Revenue’s State Equalization Factor. The goal of EAV is to ensure fairness for all Illinois property taxpayers.

When ready, reports will be posted on our website.

Visit from the Howe Elementary School Fifth Graders

Lake County Clerk Robin O'Connor welcomed over sixty 5th graders from Howe Elementary School in Beach Park when they recently visited and toured her office.

After personally giving the students an office tour, Lake County Clerk O'Connor had the students raise their right hand and take an oath that they promised to register and vote when of legal age. Each 5th grader then completed a "Student Voter Registration" card,  voted in a mock election, and drew their own family tree after learning about the Lake County Clerk's genealogical resources.

"As a former educator, I loved having the students visit us," says O'Connor. "I hope that voting for their favorite color and superhero will encourage these future voters to participate in the real electoral process when they become of age."

If your school, church, or civic group would like a tour of the Lake County Clerk's office, please contact Karen at 847.377.2317.

Lake County Property Record Search

Since its launch in May 2019, tax.lakecountyil.gov has proven to be a popular way for interested parties to search online for Lake County property tax summaries, exemptions, or owner history. The database is the result of record consolidation from Lake County's Chief County Assessor, Treasurer, County Clerk, and Information Technology departments into one easy-to-use portal.

Previously, those seeking information had to visit several websites and make numerous phone calls to find the necessary details. Now, property information is offered through one online resource making access to property information more transparent than ever before.

The four County offices are already planning to build on the successful launch of the website with improved content, presentation and navigation in the near future.

Find the property information you need.
