The February 26 Primary Election is not a county-wide election. Only voters in the specific City of Waukegan alderman wards 2, 3, 7, and 8 are eligible to cast a ballot. There are only Democratic candidates. No Republican candidates or public questions were certified for the primary election.
Voter Registration
Online voter registration with the Illinois State Board of Elections is available until Feb. 10. You must have an Illinois Driver’s License or state identification card. In-person registration is offered at any Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles facility when you are there for their other services.
Grace Registration is available now through Feb. 8 at the Lake County Clerk’s Office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. From Feb. 11 to 25, the Grace Registration option will be available during early voting at the Lake County Courthouse, 18 N. County St., Waukegan. On Election Day, you must register at the voting site assigned to serve your address. Applicants must present two forms of valid identification. Both must show your current name, and one must show your physical Lake County street address. Voting a ballot is required at the time of registration.
Vote by Mail
Registered voters must submit a required application form by noon on Feb. 21. Returning voted by mail ballots must be postmarked by midnight on Feb. 26.
Vote Early
Early voting is available now through Feb. 8 at the Lake County Clerk’s Office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. From Feb. 11 to 25, early voting will be open weekdays, evenings, and weekends at the Lake County Main Courthouse in Waukegan. View the dates and hours.
Vote on Election Day
Those choosing to vote on Election Day, Feb. 26 must go to their assigned polling location. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. List of Election Day Voting Sites.

Nationwide, individuals are unable to restore their driving privileges if their license is suspended for failure to pay a fine or appear in court. Lake County residents with a suspended driver’s license looking to restore their driving privileges are invited to attend a FREE education session with the Lake County Board, Illinois Secretary of State’s office, and Lake County Workforce Development on Feb. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Waukegan City Hall. Attend and meet face-to-face with several of Lake County's government employers on Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago. All of the agencies at our job fair have open positions they seek to fill.
Organizations that will be in attendance include the City of Zion, Deerfield Park District, Lake County Forest Preserves, Park District of Highland Park, Village of Buffalo Grove, Village of Lincolnshire, Waukegan Park District, and Waukegan Community Unit School District 60. These organizations are looking to fill full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions in various departments.

Applications for the 2019 Lake County Summer Youth Employment Program are now being accepted through March 31! The program, funded by the Lake County Board, provides meaningful work experiences for participants, who will work at various sites in Lake County, including private employers and nonprofit organizations, local municipalities and community-based organizations. Applicants should be age 14 to 18 (by April 15) or age 14 to 22 with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Free Swim Class
Free introductory swim lessons will be offered starting Feb. 20 at the Waukegan Park District Field House. The class is designed to help children who have never taken a swim lesson become comfortable in the water. Class will also cover water safety, pool rules and etiquette. Gurnee Offers Citizen Police Academy
The Gurnee Citizen Police Academy is designed to give the public a working knowledge of the practices, policies, and procedures governing the police department. The academy, which is open to ages 18 and older, will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Feb. 28. Apply online.

Bring the family to the 29th annual Black History Program from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 23 at Zion-Benton Township High School. Enjoy singing, dancing, guest speakers and poetry. Learn more
Come together in a public statement against global abuse and oppression of women and join Lake County Rising on Feb. 12 at the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center. There has been a recent increase in reported cases of Hepatitis A virus (HAV) throughout Illinois and in Lake County. Since January 2018, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has confirmed 110 cases of HAV and has identified 35 cases to be part of a statewide outbreak.
