News Release: Lake County Board Elects Sandy Hart as Chairman and Mary Ross Cunningham as Vice-Chairman

Hart has been on the board since 2012. Her district includes Lake Bluff, Wildwood, unincorporated Grayslake, and portions of North Chicago, Waukegan, Libertyville, and Gurnee. She has been a steadfast champion of government transparency, efficiency, and ethics, and has worked diligently to enhance and support programs to address the mental health crisis.

Chairman Hart has served as the Vice-Chair of the County Board’s Health and Community Services Committee and as a member of the Law and Judicial Committee.

Chairman Hart said, “I am very proud to chair this dedicated board. I look forward to serving you the next two years. Every election brings change. Newly elected members bring energy, ideas and a fresh outlook and current board members offer a wealth of experience, knowledge and consistency that is so important. I am confident we will work together as a team to achieve positive results for the residents of Lake County.”

Vice-Chair Cunningham has been on the board since 2002. District 9 includes portions of Waukegan and North Chicago. She has served as the Chair of the County Board's Law and Judicial Committee and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and served on the Health and Community Services Committee, along with other Ad-Hoc Committees. Her main priorities are jobs and affordable housing.

Also at the meeting, 14 county board members were sworn into office. Seven members are new to the board and seven are returning members.
