Confined Space Training

Lake County Public Works employees recently completed annual confined space training. Confined space training is vital, as much of Lake County’s infrastructure is underground in hard-to-reach places, and staff must regularly access these areas to perform maintenance and repairs. This has the potential to be dangerous work if the proper training or safety procedures aren’t in place. Employees spend part of the training in a classroom setting, and then they partner with the Libertyville Fire Department to simulate a rescue drill in the field. The safety of our employees is a top priority, and regular training helps prepare our crews by teaching them what to do in the event of an emergency. Watch this video for a behind-the-scenes look at the training exercise.

Get Rid of Unwanted Medications, Oct. 27

Drug take back day 2018

You may have seen local law enforcement agencies promoting a prescription take back event to keep potentially dangerous prescription drugs off the streets. But did you know we need proper medication disposal to keep these drugs out of our water supply? You should never flush prescriptions or other medications down the drain. The Lake County Sheriff's Office is partnering with the DEA for Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27. The service is free and anonymous. View the drop-off locations.

Remember, the Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement agencies also provide drug disposal boxes at locations across Lake County where your unwanted and expired prescription drugs can be disposed safely all year round. Find a drug disposal box near you
