County Receives $32 Million to Fund Transportation Projects

The Lake County Council of Mayors has successfully allocated $32 million of federal Surface Transportation Program funds in 2018 for 10 projects in nine Lake County communities. This includes $25 million for Lake County’s Quentin Road widening improvement, which is currently being constructed in Kildeer and Lake Zurich. These funds were allocated based upon project readiness across the region and represents nearly four years worth of funding under the previous allotments the Council has received.

Vernon Township Voting Sites To Change for November Election

Mathias November 2018 precinct change

Aptakisic Junior High School requested that they no longer serve as an Election Day voting site starting with the November 2018 election.  Significant efforts were made by the Lake County Clerk's Office to identify a new and convenient voting site for the residents in Vernon Township precincts 276, 279, 280, 281, and 285.

Illinois statutes mandate that the voting site be as centrally located as possible within one of the precincts being served, comply with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, and have ample space for voters, voting equipment, and parking.  Unfortunately, we could not find a building that met all of the requirements.  As a result, voters were re-assigned to other already established voting sites close to the voters’ homes.

Residents in precincts 279 and 280 were moved to the Willow Grove School (777 Checker Drive, Buffalo Grove) while voters in precincts 276, 281 and 285 will now vote at the Chevy Chase Country Club (1000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling).

The Lake County Clerk’s Office mailed a new Voter Certificate of Registration Card listing the new voting site to all the registered voters affected by these re-assignments.  Another reminder letter will be mailed to the residents closer to the November election describing the new voting site location by address and map.

Log onto LakeVoterPower.info to find your precinct number, see a sample ballot when available, complete a vote by mail application, and find early and Election Day voting site information.

Remember registered voters have other voting options.  Early voting starts two weeks before Election Day, and voters can use any site regardless of where they live. Or, easier yet, vote by mail and have a ballot sent right to your home. You have only to walk as far as the mailbox to cast your ballot. Visit LakeCountyClerk.info and click on the November 2018 Election icon for details.
