First Installment of Property Tax Bills Is Due Soon

The first installment of Lake County property taxes is due Wednesday, June 6. The second installment is due Sept. 6. Please note, you only receive one bill in May. You will not receive another bill in advance of the second installment due date. 


Property Tax Payment Options

View your current Lake County property tax payment status by using this application

U.S. Mail - Mail your payment using the envelopes provided with your bill. It must be postmarked on or before the due date in order to avoid penalty.  Mail in your payment by sending it to P.O. Box 1030, Bedford Park, IL 60499-1030.

Online - Payments can be made by electronic check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit cards. Please note there will be a credit card convenience fee added to your payment by the processing company, and electronic check transactions between $0 to $50,000 will be charged a $1 fee.

In Person - Bring your tax bill to the Lake County Treasurer's Office, 18 N. County St., Room 102, Waukegan.

Local Bank - Payments must be made by the bank's close of business on the due date. Banks may not accept a late payment after the due date. Banks will accept original or duplicate bills and will issue a teller receipt.  View the list of banks who take real estate payments

Late Payments

The Lake County Treasurer's Office is required by State law to collect a 1.5 percent penalty per month on any unpaid installment balance after the due dates. This year, the penalty is calculated on the 7th of each month and is not prorated by state law. Visit our Late Payment web page for more information.
