Dear Neighbor,
There are several upcoming local events that I thought you might be interested in. I hope to see you there, but if you cannot attend, please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns and I will do my best to get them answered.
Town Hall with State Rep Sam Yingling and Lake County Board Member Sandy Hart Wednesday, April 4, 6pm - 7pm Wildwood Park District's Oak Room, 33325 N. Sears Blvd., Wildwood
Residents are invited to join the conversation about what is happening in Springfield, Lake County Government and the Forest Preserves. We look forward to answering questions and hearing your thoughts, concerns, and ideas.
NAMI Lake County Annual Meeting with US HealthVest Wednesday, April 4, 7pm - 8:30pm Hinkston Field House, 800 Baldwin Ave., Waukegan
US HealthVest, the new owners of Vista Medical Center West in Waukegan (previously known as St. Therese Medical Center) will discuss their plans for the new mental health facility at this site. The current scenario is for 146 beds, offering a full continuum of care for adolescents and adults, which includes inpatient and intensive outpatient care.
Reducing the Stigma of Mental Illness Saturday, April 7, 10am - 12pm Warren Newport Public Library, 224 O'Plaine Road., Gurnee
Join me at a community event focused on reducing the stigma of mental illness. Approximately one in five adults and adolescents are affected
every year, but mental illness is rarely discussed. Due to the stigma,
people and their loved ones suffer in silence. At these events will hear
from those directly affected, discuss challenges and resources with local
service providers, and find out what our community can do to help. My goal is
to stamp out stigma, support caregivers, and let people know they are not
alone.
Congress On Your Corner with Congressman Brad Schneider Saturday, April 7, 10am - 11am Libertyville High School, 708 West Park Ave., Libertyville
Congressman Schneider will participate in a Question & Answer session for residents about the federal government.
Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Application Outreach Sessions Attention seniors! Receive assistance filling out the
2018 Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Application at an upcoming outreach
session. View Upcoming Outreach Sessions and Qualifications.
The Senior Freeze
provides eligible seniors (based on income levels) protection against real
estate tax increases due to rising property values as this exemption “freezes”
your home’s equalized assessed value at a base year value. The base year
is generally the year before you first qualify and apply for the exemption. For
example, if you first qualify and apply in 2018, your property’s equalized
assessed value will be “frozen” at the 2017 equalized assessed value. Please
note that this exemption is not a tax freeze or a tax reduction and does not
protect against increased taxes due to tax rate increases.
Rx for Health: Walking in Nature On April 7, 4pm - 5:30pm, join a health professional and
an educator at Hastings Lake for a walk to explore the preserve as we improve our health. We
begin gathering at 3:45 p.m. for a prompt departure. Out of respect for all
program participants, please leave pets at home. Service animals are permitted.
We will walk approximately two miles. This event is free. No registration is
required. Adult supervision is required. Meet at the playground parking lot. Additional Rx for Health walks
