PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 18, 2018 Contact: Carla N. Wyckoff 847.377.2430
WAUKEGAN, Illinois – After the polls close at 7 p.m. on election
night, visit LakeCountyClerk.info and click on Election
Results to see Lake County’s totals from all mailed, early voted, and Election
Day ballots. Election judges at the county’s 121 individual voting sites will
begin transmitting their tallies directly to the clerk’s office after all
voters in line at 7 p.m. have been served. Website totals will be updated as
new numbers become available from the voting sites.
Election Day totals are
the first results to be posted. Since the Election Day reporting transmissions cannot
be interrupted, the totals for all mailed and early voted ballots are added
afterwards. By statute, these ballots must be counted in the clerk’s office by
election judges after the polls close at 7 p.m. on election night.
Write-in vote totals
will be posted on the clerk’s website by end of day Thursday, March 22. Only
contested precinct committeemen races will be included on this interactive
results page. A complete list of precinct committeeman races will be posted as
PDF on the Election Results home page.
The election results
page provides in-depth and customizable data and views. You can see a breakdown
of votes for a candidate by contest and totals by vote type (early, by mail,
and Election Day). Maps, bar graphs, and numerical charts illustrate the
reported precincts, voter turnout, or results by precinct. Filtering functions
allow you to customize and download reports in different file formats. The site
contains a search function and uses a responsive design to fit the size of your
viewing screen.
An Election Night Reporting User
Guide offering in-depth navigation instruction is available on “Navigating
our Election Results Pages” web page.
On election night, web
visitors should click their browser’s refresh button after they enter the
results page to ensure the most recent numbers are being viewed.
Per Illinois election
law, results will not be official until 14 days after the election. This allows
for any late-arriving voted by mail ballots and the processing of provisional
ballots.
