Voter Registration
Online voter registration is available through the Illinois State Board of
Elections until March 4. A valid Illinois driver’s license or state
identification card is required. Register now.
Vote by Mail
Have you ever wondered all the fun things you could be doing instead of
waiting in line on Election Day? We thought of seven ideas that can be much more fun! Vote from the comfort of your own
home. Apply to vote by mail by March 15.
Early Voting Today (March 2) is the final day that you can vote early at the Clerk’s office, 18
N. County St., Waukegan, The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Beginning March 5, early voting will be available at
all 15 sites
throughout the county. For early voting, Lake County residents may use any
location regardless of where they live. Grace registration will be
available at all early voting sites, and residents must vote at the same time
as registering.

Join the
Youth Conservation Corps
This summer jobs program is designed to employ high
school youth in natural resources, construction, and park maintenance related
projects. Recruitment is underway now for the 2018 season. View the application for
details.
Crew members work together in teams to build trails and
boardwalks, restore natural areas and waterways, and complete basic preserve
maintenance projects. Additionally, crew members receive training in first aid,
basic work and life skills, construction skills and environmental
awareness. The program runs for eight weeks each summer from mid-June

Dunn Museum
Opens March 24
Experience the new Bess Bower Dunn Museum of Lake
County during a special opening day celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
March 24. Join guided tours, drop-in activities, and the opportunity to
meet paleoartist Tyler Keillor. Open to all ages, opening day is

How do we maintain 205 miles of trails in forest
preserves around the county? Through the hard work and heavy equipment of
our Operations and Infrastructure department. Watch this video as Forest
Preserve crews took care of a section of the Millennium Trail at Singing
Hills Forest Preserve in Volo last fall.

The Internal Revenue Service is warning taxpayers of a quickly growing
scam involving erroneous tax refunds being deposited into their bank accounts.
After stealing client data from tax professionals and filing fraudulent tax
returns, criminals use the taxpayers' real bank accounts for the deposit.
Thieves are then using various tactics to reclaim the refund from the

Meet Bones, the newest member of the Lake County
Coroner's Office! Bones, a Belgian Malinois, is in training to become a cadaver
dog and to search for missing persons. Bones also will provide grief support
for family members who lost a loved one. |
Lake
County students who plan to pursue a higher education during the 2018-19
academic year can now apply for a $500 college scholarship to be awarded by the
Illinois Sheriff’s Association. Applicants must be permanent Illinois residents
and be enrolled full time at a certified institution of higher learning within

The Waukegan Park District will hold a job fair from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 29

Join District 60 Forum to Discuss Proposed Policy Waukegan School District 60 would like input on a proposed
Promotion Policy, which could change how students move from one grade to the
next. The public is invited and welcome to the meetings, the first of which
will begin at 6 p.m. March 5 at Whittier Elementary School. Learn more
Save the Date for Let's Go to College The University Center of Lake County will host a conference, "Let's Go to College" where students can find out how to get grants and scholarships to pay for college, hear from college students and graduates on how to navigate college life and more. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28 at the University Center in Grayslake. Space is limited. Learn to Achieve Financial Success The Affordable Housing Corporation of Lake County is providing free counseling and coaching to help residents achieve financial success. Counselors analyze an individual's situation and develop a personalized action plan. They also provide follow-up services to track progress. To learn more, call 847-263-7478, ext. 19.
