Lake
County Workforce Development is launching a new program called Revive Lake County to equip returning citizens or individuals who have a criminal background with the essential skills needed to
succeed in today’s workplace.
Starting
Feb. 8, 2018, Lake County Workforce Development will begin the new five-week
program that focuses on life skills, career awareness, employability skills,
and essential workplace skills. Individuals who successfully complete the
program may be eligible to receive financial aid for job training or a paid
work experience.
Demar Harris, Director of the Revive Lake County Program for Lake County Workforce
Development, explains that the primary purpose of the program is to reduce
recidivism. "The program’s curriculum takes a holistic, strength based,
solution-focused approach. It will include connections to services and
resources as participants successfully transition back into their community to
obtain and retain sustainable employment."
Interested
individuals are required to attend a Job Center Information Session by December
29, 2017.
