Construction is nearing completion on the $53 million
Washington Street Thoroughfare Project in central Lake County. Please join us
as we celebrate the reconstruction and widening of Washington Street, and the
grade separation with the new Washington Street underpass. Not only is this huge project coming to an end, it also signifies the completion of more
than 25 years of work to add capacity to the Washington Street travel corridor
from Waukegan to Round Lake. Additionally, this is the final project in Lake County’s successful Challenge Bond Program which represents a total of over
$170 million of transportation improvements funded by Lake County. We hope you will join
us to learn more about the project and help us thank all the wonderful partners
who made this project happen.
DATE: Friday, Sept. 29, 2017
TIME: 10 a.m.
LOCATION: Washington Street Underpass, Grayslake
Parking for this event will be at the Grayslake train
station on Washington Street, just west of the underpass. We recommend carpooling to the event as there may be limited parking spaces available depending on the number of train commuters that day. Please arrive at least ten minutes early to allow plenty of time to walk over to the event site from the parking lot, and wear comfortable shoes. LCDOT staff will help
direct you from the parking lot to the event location. If you wish to be dropped off at the event site instead of walking over from the train station, we recommend getting dropped off at Haryan Way.
In the event of inclement weather, we will reschedule. Please monitor your email for further information.
