Historic and Current Monitoring Data Results for the Des Plaines River Watershed
Lakes and streams within the Des Plaines River watershed
have been identified by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois
EPA) as impaired for phosphorus, fecal coliform, chloride, and other pollutants.
The pollutants are a result of point and nonpoint source pollution, entering
rivers and streams through pipes and overland runoff.
In 2015, the DRWW began a comprehensive water quality monitoring program for the watershed and collected data for chemistry, sediment, biology, and flow. Guest speakers will present the results of the historical water quality data and DRWW's efforts over the last two years. All of this information will also be used in the Watershed Plan.
Guest Speakers:
- Lake County Stormwater Management Commission
- Midwest Biodiversity Institute (MBI)
- Burns and McDonnell
