*There will not be an Emergency Management Partners
Update on Sunday unless there is significant new information to share.
We continue to watch weather forecasts closely. The storms that
passed through Lake County overnight on Friday ranged from about 1” to 1.5” in
the northern part of the county to about 2.5" to 3” in the south. Significant
localized flash flooding has not been reported. The high winds also did not
impact our area and only a few power outages are currently reported in Lake
County.
The threat for additional heavy rainfall in northern Illinois will
end later this morning as the storms shift south of the area.
Fox River/Chain O'Lakes
- Gauge at New Munster is currently at
minor flood stage of 12.46’. The revised model forecasts the crest at 12.5'.
- Gauge at Fox Lake near Lake Villa is
currently at 7.45’ and is up from 7.42’ yesterday afternoon. IDNR/OWR expects
it to flatten out and then resume falling, so no new flood risks should be
realized on the Chain.
- Gauge at Lower Fox at Algonquin
Tailwater had relatively heavy rainfall and the hydrograph went from about
12.5' yesterday to a current elevation of 13.05'. The forecast crest is 13.3'
later today. SMC predicts that there won't be a lot of additional water coming
down from the Chain, so it may not get to the forecast crest. It is currently
in major flood stage and is forecast to stay in major flood stage through the
next week.
Des Plaines River
- Gauge at Russell is currently at minor
flood stage of 8.02’ and flat/dropping. The revised model shows it holding at
8' in minor flood stage.
- Des Plaines river gauge at Gurnee is currently
at moderate flood stage of 9.40’. Elevation levels fluctuated slightly
following the overnight rain, but additional flooding here is not expected. The
revised model shows it cresting at 9.4'.
- Des
Plaines river gauge at Lincolnshire is currently at moderate flood stage of
14.8' and rising, but SMC predicts the water level will decrease over the next
couple days. The revised model has it cresting at 14.9’ and it’s currently at
14.8’.
Residents impacted by the flood and in need of resources and
assistance can come to a one-stop-shop in Round Lake Beach until noon today. Anyone in line at noon will be served, and it
takes about one to two hours for a client to be processed and visit all of the
agency tables.
