We are watching weather forecasts closely. The rainfall last night brought an average of 1.2 inches to Lake County. The primary concern right now is the heavy rainfall forecast through Saturday. The NWS reports that although localized flooding is possible tonight, the threat of flooding/flash flooding will increase into Friday and ongoing river flooding could worsen into the weekend. There
is uncertainty on the location of the storms. While additional rain will cause river levels to slowly rise, we don't expect to exceed previous crest levels.
Sandbags With rain in the forecast through the weekend, we recommend communities do NOT remove sandbags from designated locations and to keep all preventative measures in place!

Flooding will result in an increase in mosquitoes. Floodwater mosquitoes are likely to reach nuisance levels about a week after flooding, but these mosquitoes are not carriers of the West Nile virus. As floodwaters recede and the weather dries out, Culex mosquitoes, which are the primary carriers of West Nile virus, are likely to increase in population. Learn more at fightthebitenow.com.
