Widespread flooding in Lake County continues to make travel difficult, and we expect major delays and traffic problems for the morning commute on Monday, July 17. Even though flooding is receding in some
locations, many major east-west roads are still closed, and more have been added to the list. The morning commute was rough last week, and since then, IL 60 and IL 120 have both closed.
At this time, the following roads are closed:
- IL 60 (IL 21- St. Mary's)
- IL 120 (IL 21 - River Rd)
- IL 132 (IL 21 - O'Plaine)
- US 41 (IL 21- Delany)
- IL 173 (US 41 - Kilbourne)
- Other roadways are also closed near the Des Plaines River and Fox River/Chain O'Lakes
The amount of traffic that will be using IL 22, IL 137, IL 176, Wadsworth Road, Deerfield Road and Washington Street will far exceed capacity. For the most current list of road closures, please visit Lake County PASSAGE.
- Check Lake County PASSAGE before you leave your house so you can have the latest road information to plan your route.
- Allow yourself plenty of time to get where you are going.
- Use alternate routes far from these closure
areas wherever possible.
- Remember, we are all in this together. Please drive cautiously and show patience to other road users.
Please help us spread the word so that others will be prepared. We will post this on the LCDOT Facebook page, and we encourage you to share this information.
Thank you in advance!
