Share a book from your prized collection at a Pop-Up Museum hosted by our Museum staff from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 4 at the Wauconda Area Library. Our Pop-Up Museums are temporary exhibits created by you to share objects and stories. This Pop-Up Museum's theme is Shelf Indulgence, centered around your favorite books. Bring a treasured book, such as the one you have read a thousand times, a cookbook from your grandmother, or a children's book with the best illustrations. The program is free, open to all ages, and no registration is required. Summit Sets Path to Make Lake County Among Healthiest Places

Lake County Together Summit

More than 20 organizations, including members of the County Board and more than 200 leaders from hospital/health systems, schools and more came together to address the question, “How can we make Lake County one of the healthiest places to live, work and play” at the Lake County Together Summit. The summit was focused on learning and discussing how to collectively improve the health and quality of life of Lake County residents. Learn more about the summit.

Live Well Lake County Addresses Key Community Health Issues

Since 2011, the Live Well Lake County (LWLC) steering committee, made up of representatives from community-based organizations, government agencies, health care systems, and academic institutions, has been working collaboratively to improve the health and well-being of county residents. Six teams, working in unison with the Lake County Health Department, are addressing identified community health issues such as keeping active by walking, healthy eating, diabetes prevention and management, tobacco prevention and cessation, health literacy and behavioral health. Nicasa's Bridge House Undergoes Renovations

The Nicasa Bridge House in Waukegan is a community-based residence for men and women recovering from dependence on drugs or alcohol. Recently, the facility underwent renovations to make it ADA accessible to broaden the reach of residents who could utilize the facility. Watch this video, and learn more about the project.

The Round Lake Area Park District seeks your input. Join one of the scheduled community input meetings. The next meeting will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Round Lake Area Sports Center, 2004 Municipal Way. The final meeting will begin at 6 p.m. March 6 at Park School, 400 W Townline Road.
