Are you ready for the February 28th Primary?

WAUKEGAN, Illinois – To be prepared for the February 28th Consolidated Primary Election, Waukegan Township and City of Waukegan residents are encouraged to log onto LakeVoterPower.info today to confirm registration record reflects current name and address. If you need to update your record or register for the first time, voter registration is open now and is conveniently available online, in-person at many locations around the county, or by mail.

Online voter registration is offered through the Illinois State Board of Elections’ website (https://ova.elections.il.gov) until February 12.

In-person registration with a deputy registrar is available until January 31 at most municipal, township, and library facilities. To find a convenient location, review the Official Places of Voter Registration brochure at LakeCountyClerk.info under the February 28, 2017 Consolidated Primary News & Announcements article. The County Clerk’s office, 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, offers voter registration weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until January 31.

A printable mail-in registration form is available under the February 28, 2017 Consolidated Primary News and Announcements article at LakeCountyClerk.info. The completed form must be received by the Clerk’s office by January 31. The first time a mail-in registrant votes, it must be in person unless two forms of valid identification are included with the registration form.

Each applicant must be a United States citizen, 18 years of age by Election Day, and meet a 30-day Lake County residency requirement. Two forms of valid identification must be presented at the time of registration. At least one of the forms must show current name and address.

The February 28th Consolidated Primary is only for residents in Waukegan Township and the City of Waukegan to nominate township highway commissioner, city mayor, and city clerk candidates.
