Winter has come to Lake County, as you may have seen one of the Lake County
Division of Transportation (LCDOT) snow plows out last weekend. Check out
their new interactive tool where you can get a look at their snow removal
operations, and check out LCDOT’s video too as a reminder to not crowd the
plow!
Now also is the time of year to enjoy the holidays and share the joy with family and friends. Make sure to check out Visit Lake County's holiday guide to find so many ways you can enjoy this time of year in Lake County.

The Illinois Secretary of State's office is
launching a new license plate replacement program beginning in January to
replace the oldest license plates with newly designed plates. Vehicle owners
will be notified by mail if they qualify for the new license plates. If you are
not up for replacement, you may request a new license plate in January at www.cyberdriveillinois.com for a $29 fee. In addition, vehicle owners with license plates
manufactured after 2001 that are showing signs of wear and are difficult to
read may visit www.cyberdriveillinois.com to apply for a newly designed plate at no charge.

Lake County Division of Transportation has a new interactive mapping tool to

removal operations. Find which snow plow routes you encounter on your way to
work or school, see what happens during a typical snow event, and connect with

Don’t Crowd the Plow
When plow trucks are out,
remember to stay back at least 50 feet or two to three car lengths, due to road
conditions and so the plow operators can see your vehicles. The Lake County
Division of Transportation’s snowplow operators are extremely safety conscious,
but they need your help. Stay back, and let them do their job of cleaning the
road for you. Don’t Crowd the Plow! Watch our video to learn more. |

that can target the most effective projects.
He also volunteers his time to numerous projects that enhance his community and
watershed and coordinates an annual stream clean-up on Buffalo Creek. Jeff
