Despite fast approaching deadlines, Lake County residents still have several opportunities to register for the first time or update an existing record.
Voter registration is available:
- Until October 21
In-person at the Clerk’s office. Weekdays from 8:30 am to 5 pm
- Until October 23
Online through Illinois State Board of Elections (https://ova.elections.il.gov)
- Oct. 24 through November 7
Use any one of the 14 early voting sites regardless of where you live. Some locations are open for extended days, evenings, and on Sundays. View a list of all early voting sites.
- November 8 (Election Day) from 6 am to 7 pm
Voter must use assigned Election Day voting site or the Clerk’s office. To find your assigned voting site, use our Polling
Place Locator.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, residents of their precinct for 30 days before Election Day, 18 years old on or before the general election, provide two forms of valid identification, and vote at the time of registration.
Vote by mail, early, or on Election Day. Choose the voting option that’s the easiest for your schedule and busy lifestyle.
By Mail until November 3
For November’s election, 26,000 Lake County voters have already chosen to vote by mail. It’s simple to receive the short required application:
Completed applications must be received at the Clerk’s office by November 3rd. You only have to walk as far as your mailbox for your ballot and vote stress-free from your own couch.
Mail your voted ballot back to the Clerk’s office with a postmark no later than end of the day on Election Day. You can track the Clerk’s receipt of your ballot at LakeVoterPower.info using the “Track My Ballot” feature.
Early Voting
- Until October 21

November’s Voter Information Guide includes a complete list of all candidates and public questions appearing on the November 8th ballot. Election Day voting sites with addresses are listed by township and precinct. A comprehensive directory of all early voting sites, including dates, hours, and addresses is also included.
A printed version of the guide will be delivered in Lake County editions of Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald, Lake County Journal, Lake County News Sun, Pioneer Press, Reflejos, and Zion Benton News Weekly early as October 20.
Additional copies will also be available at many county libraries, park districts, and municipal or township offices. View the guide online.
