2016 Deicing Workshop - Sensible Salting Practices for Roads
Please join Lake County SMC and Lake Branch APWA for the the 2016 Deicing Workshop. Due to overwhelming interest in the Roads training, an additional class has been added to handle the demand. This
workshop will focus on sensible salting practices for roadways. This
session will not include the calibration demonstrations or expo, but attendees can participate in the October 4th or 5th expo as part of your registration for this event.
Attendees who attend training on the 3rd do not have to register to
attend the calibration demonstrations or Tuesday or Wednesday. The
demonstrations and expo will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Lake Co.
Division of Transportation, 600 W. Winchester Rd., Libertyville, IL
60048.
NOTE: This workshop is limited to 75 registrants.
Workshop agenda:
• 7:00 a.m. Check-In
• 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Workshop and Optional Test
• 12:00 p.m. Box Lunches Provided
• 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Case Study Presentation During Lunch (Tentative)
• 1:00 p.m. PDH Certificates Provided
Who Should Attend:
- Public works and transportation personnel;
- Contractors maintaining private/public walkways and parking lots:
- Snow plow operators;
- Property managers, facility and grounds maintenance staff; and
- Others responsible for winter maintenance.
Workshop Includes:
- Presentations;
- Calibration demonstrations (on Tuesday and Wednesday at Lake County DOT Offices); and

Earn 5 PDHs
Take and pass an optional test to be included on the Lake County Preferred Providers List.
Includes continental breakfast and box lunch.
