Employee Spotlight!
When you drive through a construction project, you might see Jeff! He does a great job for LCDOT and is a valuable member of our construction team. Please slow down as you drive through his “office” – for your safety and his. Employee Spotlight Video

This summer, Jeff is the Resident Engineer on the Miller Road Resurfacing Project. The Final asphalt surface is now in place, but work remains to install guardrail, shoulder work in some areas, landscaping and punch list items. Work should be complete in August.

Watch for one lane traffic control with flaggers during daytime hours.

Hawley Street Construction:
A big stage change is happening today on the Hawley Street Construction project! Hawley Street will be open to both eastbound and westbound traffic between Midlothian and Chicago Avenue. The one-way detour that has been in place since April will end and traffic will run on the new Hawley pavement. Work will then begin on reconstructing the north 1/3 of pavement along Hawley Street. North Shore Bike Path:
There are a few projects on the North Shore Bike Path this summer to help maintain this important regional bike path in central Lake County. LCDOT just completed a realignment at the Union Pacific Railroad in Lake Bluff. The realignment was needed where the North Shore Bike Path curved toward the road just east of US 41. LCDOT removed the curved section and replaced it with a straight section (pictured below). There is also a resurfacing project that is scheduled to begin in mid-August. LCDOT is resurfacing the path from Brice Avenue to IL 43 (near Carmel High School). This will be a moving operation and there will be sections of the path that require daily closures during construction.

Hunt Club Road Resurfacing:
Work is underway to resurface Hunt Club Road from Stearns School Road to IL 173. The project consists of asphalt resurfacing and the installation of bike friendly shoulders. Since the section between Millburn Rd to Wadsworth Rd was recently resurfaced when roundabouts were installed, that section will not be included. The southern leg of this project has been widened four feet on both sides to provide bike friendly shoulders and the final surface is coming soon.
