Forwarding on behalf of the Village of Deerfield
Deerfield Road will be closed between Waukegan Road (IL-43) and Chestnut
Street for 30 days beginning on Monday, August 1, 2016, to allow for
construction operations. This closure is required in order to reconstruct
infrastructure between the Metra Viaduct and Waukegan Road.
Simultaneously, maintenance work will be performed on the Deerfield Road
bridge over the west fork of the north branch of the Chicago River (east of
Deerpath Drive), which will prohibit traffic from crossing the bridge.
These infrastructure improvements will result in a full closure and detour
using local roads (see map include below). Eastbound Deerfield Road traffic
will go south on Wilmot Road, east on Central Avenue, then north on Elm Street,
then east on Osterman Avenue onto northbound Waukegan Road. Westbound traffic
will go north on Waukegan Road, then west on Hazel Avenue, then south on Wilmot
Road. This will also result in the closure of Robert York Avenue at Deerfield
Road.
In efforts to minimize traffic congestion on the detour route, parking will
not be permitted on streets along the detour route (where posted), specifically
on Hazel Avenue and Central Avenue east of the bridge.
The Village reminds motorists to obey the posted detour and speed limit as
the Village of Deerfield Police Department will be extra diligent in performing
enforcement on all Village roadways.
