Hello Neighbors
The Civil War Days history event - this Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10 - is one of the largest reenactments in the country and it is right here in Lakewood Forest Preserve at Rt 176 and Fairfield Road. Find more detail below.
We received our assessment notice at home this past week. Please check your form to confirm that the values are reasonable and that you are receiving the deductions that you are due (e.g. Homestead, Senior, Disabled). After you receive and review your assessment information, feel free to first contact the Township Assessor with your questions. The phone numbers and detailed information are below in the news article.
I hope you had an enjoyable holiday and continue to enjoy our fine summer weather (remember November's snow?). As in each edition of my newsletter you can find large numbers and a wide variety of activities and events. If water fun is of special interest to you, your children and grandchildren, select the Park Districts' links to learn more about the Aquatic Center in Hawthorn Woods. Mundelein has Barefoot Bay, the Spray Park and a number of other water attractions. Wauconda's Bangs Lake is the center of activity for summer and all seasons.
Check the village websites (below) for news about other events (Hawthorn Woods car show and concert Friday evening). Friday in Mundelein offers a Farmers Market (near McDonalds) and Friday Flicks at the Library.
As always, please contact me with your questions and comments.
Regards,

They are back in action!! The budget deal (for a 6 month stop-gap only) included a provision to continue 2016 state-funded projects.
While none of the key County and municipal transportation improvements in our 10th County Board District were directly impacted by the proposed shut-down, other projects in Lake County would have been thrown off-schedule.

 To address the growing number
of Lake County residents struggling with opioid addiction, the Lake County
Health Department/Community Health Center is doubling the capacity of its
Medication Assisted Treatment program. Treatment will be expanded to 200 people
through a $325,000 grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration.
The need for this service has increased, as the
number of substance abuse related deaths in Lake County have tripled in the
past 20 years. Through this grant, the County plans to enhance the
program and reduce the number of overdose deaths. The funds will provide
medications, increase medical provider hours, add substance abuse counselors
and a licensed clinical social worker. Watch this video to learn more about the expansion of the MAT
program.

water which are conducive to mosquito breeding by calling the Lake County
Health Department’s West Nile virus hotline at 847-377-8300. View signs
