Hello Neighbors
This newsletter has urgent information for you about IDOT road project shutdowns: projects "funded" by the State of IL. The shutdown is a tangible example of the mess in Springfield. You may rest assured that other projects will continue ("downtown Ivanhoe," Hawley St., for example). Lake County DOT will check to make sure that projects have been shut down safely. Other happenings are noted below in the villages', libraries' Forest Preserves Districts' and park districts' websites. Check for parades, fireworks, hike/bike and other summer events, most of which are geared toward families.
One event will raise money for the "Old #1" original fire truck for Mundelein. Hawthorn Woods has concerts in the parks, car shows on Friday and other events. You may want to explore an open house (with 20 member colleges and universities) at the University Center of Lake County, 6-8 pm on July 13. The UCLC is located on Washington St., in Grayslake, across the street from the College of Lake County. Check below for schedules of events.
These educational organizations are gems loaded with opportunities for individuals who want to stay up to date in a changing world of work. Both Teresa and I earned our Masters Degrees via the UCLC. We were among the true adults in our classes.
I hope the summer brings you and your family true joy. If I can be of help to you with issues, concerns or other items, please call or email me. I am here to help you.
Regards,
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has sent notice
to their contractors to stop all construction and prepare to make construction
work zones safe for a possible “long term” shut down by June 30. This road
construction shut down is due to the lack of a state budget and an
appropriation.
This will impact several Lake County Division of Transportation
(LCDOT) projects where federal funding is administered by IDOT:
- Washington
Street Grade Separation
- Ela at
Route 12 intersection improvement
- Deerfield
Road - in the Village of Deerfield and City of Highland Park
- Waukegan
Road (IL 43) Traffic Signal improvements
LCDOT will be working with our Resident Engineers and contractors
to make sure that the roadways are as safe as possible for the traveling
public. Road construction projects that are locally funded will continue as
scheduled.
For information about any of the projects
in the 2016 Construction Program, please view our interactive
construction map
