Full Closure of Illinois 60 between Cedar Lake Road and Fairfield Road
CHICAGO
– The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that a full
closure will take place on Illinois 60 between Cedar Lake Road and Fairfield
Road, in Fremont Township, beginning, weather permitting, Monday, June 6. The
closure is necessary to remove a drainage structure under Illinois 60.
Beginning Monday,
Illinois 60 will be closed in both directions between Cedar Lake Road and
Fairfield Road until Friday, June 10. A posted detour will direct traffic
travelling eastbound on Illinois 60 to go north on Fairfield Road, east on
Belvidere Road (Illinois 120) and south on Cedar Lake Road to connect back to
Illinois 60. Westbound traffic on Illinois 60 should take the reverse route.
Motorists can expect
delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are
urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey
the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
