Election judges, site managers, technical experts, vendors, clerk’s office staff, and county employees from other departments successfully operated as one cohesive team in the March primary. The Clerk’s office is proud of how the election workers professionally carried out their duties even when presented with the multiple challenges of record voter turnout, new voting equipment, and major changes in legislative mandates.

Lake County processed more than 181,000
voters for the March 15 primary election – a record turnout. While all the
ballots have been cast, the Lake County Clerk's office still has much work to do. Watch this edition of Lake
County’s Dirty Jobs where County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor helps in the
clean-up process of the 122 Lake County voting sites.

Almost 70 fifth graders from Beach Park’s Howe Elementary School recently toured the Clerk’s office. They learned about our different services and saw some historical birth and marriage records. The future voters then participated in a mock election where they were able to choose their favorite car, ice cream, and vote on a proposition for a three day weekend using the County’s new ballot marking and tabulation equipment. We truly enjoyed their enthusiastic and inquisitive company.

During her visit to the Lake County Center for Independent Living, Clerk
Wyckoff demonstrated the newly purchased ballot marking equipment
designed for those with physical or visual disabilities. The ExpressVote
is ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant and features
headphones, Braille keypad, sip and puff technology, and screen display
adjustments empowering every voter to privately mark and cast a ballot.
