We had a very special presentation at this months Forest Preserve board meeting recognizing some of the many volunteers who donate their time to our many different preserves and events here in Lake County. I would personally like to point out a few of our local residents Like Joyce and George Proper of |
Lake Villa who have been volunteering for 21 years and Don Wilson from Lindenhurst who tops the list with 31 years of volunteer service.
We have amazing volunteers, who combined, donated nearly 44,000 hour of service in 2015 alone! You cannot put a dollar value on the time and hard work that they have put into our preserves, their work is priceless. I just want to say thank you for being and example for the rest of us.
Lake Villa Township also held their Senior New Years Extravaganza which is always a fun event. This years theme was Dan's Caribbean Cruise Line. As usual many township officials and residents dressed appropriately as seen below. Supervisor Dan Venturi always does and outstanding job hosting these community events and has a lot of great volunteers.
I am looking forward to a great year here in Lake County!
Respectfully,
Tom Weber

The County Board meets regularly as committees and the
full board to make policy and budget decisions that impact County government
services and programs. In an effort to enhance transparency, Lake County
recently launched a new service where residents can sign up to get meeting
notices and agendas sent right to their email. Sign up
and select from a list under “Meetings and Agendas.”
Various public safety agencies and first
responders use radios to communicate, but sometimes their radios are
incompatible because they operate over different frequencies and channels.
This can result in uncoordinated response, which can hinder the ability
to save lives and property. Lake County is part of a multi-jurisdictional team
that is working on a major initiative to improve communications
interoperability. Watch

The
Illinois Toll Highway Authority Board unanimously approved a resolution
authorizing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the IL Route 53/120 project.
The move follows four years of diligent work by a broad group of government,
business and environmental leaders in Lake County to advance the project, which
had previously been stalled for decades. An EIS includes a detailed study of
alignment alternatives, environmental impacts, financial feasibility and a “no
build” scenario. The EIS process will also include a robust public information
and engagement program with multiple meetings and opportunities for public
input. Read

Southern Lake County has experienced an increase
in ruse burglaries over the past two months. A ruse burglary is a
distraction technique used to lure homeowners outside of their home.
After the homeowner is outside the home and distracted by one individual,
another individual(s) enters the home typically targeting items to steal such
as cash, jewelry, and other items of value. Visit the Lake County Sheriff’s Office website for reminders to help protect you.
