LAKE COUNTY MAN ARRESTED, CHARGED WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY POSSESSION

Registered sex offender found with child pornography videos

(Lake County, IL December 18, 2015) Lake County State's Attorney Mike Nerheim announced today that a North Chicago, IL registered sex offender was charged with possessing child pornography. This is part of a Lake County State's Attorney's Office initiative to apprehend active offenders who download and trade child pornography online.

64 year old John Lambert, is charged with three counts of possessing child pornography, which are Class 2 felonies, punishable by four to fifteen years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). He will appear at a bond hearing tomorrow, Saturday, December 19, 2015.

Today marks the second time Rambert has been charged with a crime involving children.  In 2000, he was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a child. Nerheim's investigators, with the assistance of the North Chicago Police Department, conducted a search of Rambert's residence located on Waukegan Road. The defendant was arrested after evidence of alleged child pornography was discovered. State’s Attorney Michael Nerheim’s office will prosecute the case.

“This is the third offender arrested in the last month, two of which were previously registered sex offenders. We will continue to pursue these criminals who exploit children in Lake County,” said Nerheim.

The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
