Colder temperatures have come. There
are steps that you and your family can take to stay safe. One way is to create
a supplies kit with items such as
food, water, and a flashlight with extra batteries. And, check out Ready.gov to learn other ways to manage the
winter weather, such as winterizing your car and your home. You can also learn how to respond to extreme cold, which can cause
dangerous conditions such as hypothermia or frostbite, at www.alertlakecounty.com. |
 Remember, Don’t Crowd the Plow!
The Lake County Division of Transportation plows over 800 lane miles of highways utilizing 26 snow routes.
When approaching a plow truck stay back at least 50 feet or 2 to 3 car lengths,
due to road conditions and so the plow operators can see your vehicles. LCDOT’s
snowplow operators are extremely safety conscious, but they need your help.
Stay back and let them safely do their job of cleaning the road for you. Don’t
take a chance. Don’t Crowd the Plow! View LCDOT’s Snow Operations page for safety tips when driving this winter.

 More
than 1,800 children in Illinois found forever homes last year. But, almost
1,500 children in Illinois and over 100,000 children nationwide still wait to
find a loving family. The Nineteenth Judicial
Circuit recently hosted a National Adoption Awareness Month event to bring
awareness to those who hope for a permanent, loving home, and to honor local
agencies who work to facilitate adoptions. Speakers particularly brought
attention to the importance of foster parents, permanent adoptive parents, and
myths about adoption.
The Chicago Bears 2015
Rookie Class recently visited Lake County to help transform two outdoor spaces
into a tranquil, therapeutic place for children and adults who have suffered
abuse. Chicago Bears Play Zones, featuring new playgrounds and landscaping were
added at the Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center and the Zacharias Sexual
Abuse Center, both in Gurnee. Watch now |
