HP Theater Saga Continues with BIG development proposals

Watching the Highland Park City Council dealing with the HP Theater has been painful over the past 3 years. My opinion would be simply be to tear the HP Theater down and create more green space and surface parking for our Central Business District as a first option. The City Council has received 5 proposals for redevelopment and is asking for you to review and to give feedback on this survey.

We should provide the City Council our thoughts on the 5 proposals that have surfaced for redevelopment of the HP Theater property and sale of the separate Ori Parking Lot to the East. More info!! - 5 Proposals Comparison -  Opinion Survey

Veterans History Project Keeps Stories Alive

veteran history project

Many memorials across this country honor the men and women who have served during times of war. But these memorials do not tell the personal stories of hardship, sacrifice and heroism. As many who served pass on, their stories are never told. The Lake County Veterans History Project captures the stories told by citizens who served during wartime, so current and future generations can understand and appreciate what they did to serve our country. Over the past three years, 70 war veterans have met at the Lake County Courthouse to share these stories. Watch this video to meet some veterans who took part in the project. To learn more, visit our Veterans History Project web page.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office has received federal funding to purchase body-worn cameras for Sheriff's deputies as part of the Body-Worn Camera Pilot Implementation Program. The Sheriff’s Office was one of only three Illinois law enforcement agencies to be awarded this funding. The Sheriff's Office will be placing an order for 292 body cameras, which will be worn by sworn members of the Sheriff’s Office who interact with the public on a daily basis. Snow and Ice Will Be Coming. Learn Ways to Clear It Away

deice

While warmer temperatures will hopefully last, several County departments want to help get a head start addressing the snow and ice that will blanket Lake County all too soon. Workshops will be offered Oct. 6 and 7 that address sensible salting practices for more efficient use of deicing materials while protecting the environment and decreasing costs. These workshops are ideal for public works and transportation personnel, contractors maintaining private/public walkways and parking lots, snow plow operators, property managers, facility and grounds maintenance staff, and others responsible for winter maintenance. More information
