LAKE COUNTY STATE'S ATTORNEY'S OFFICE RECEIVES MADD LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNITY OUTREACH AWARD
(Lake County, IL August 21, 2015) Lake County State's Attorney, Michael G. Nerheim announced that the Lake County States Attorney's Office was honored to have received the Mother's Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Law Enforcement Community Outreach Award. The award was presented at the Lake County State's Attorney's Office this week.
"I am proud of the work that my office has done to combat drunk drivers in Lake County. Drunk Driving is at a record low nationally. Aggressive prosecution coupled with active cooperation and collaboration with groups like MADD is the key to our continued success," said Nerheim.
The Lake County State's Attorney's Office (LCSAO) continues to be diligent in the prosecution of misdemeanor and felony DUI cases. The LCSAO's Victim/Witness division are dedicated to listening to and addressing the needs of victims across Lake County. Providing victims of crime with information, resources and support throughout the criminal justice process is an ongoing effort between the Lake County State's Attorney's Office and the agencies that service the Lake County community.
“MADD has a courtroom presence
in all 102 counties within the State of Illinois. We took into account
the aggressive and expeditious prosecution of both misdemeanor and felony
D.U.I. cases, as well as the professionalism, compassion and overall human
element that the Lake County States Attorney’s Office routinely displays when
making the decision to issue this award. The Lake County States Attorney’s
Office has certainly established themselves as a top tier jurisdiction with
respect to D.U.I. prosecution and victim rights,” said Sam Canzoneri, State
Executive Director of MADD, Illinois.
MADD's mission is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking.
