 The Lake County
Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is accepting applications through Aug. 28
for enrollment in the Lake County Adopt A Highway program. Volunteers
adopt a section of a county highway, and commit to cleaning it twice a year. At
this time, there are 23 sections of highway and two bike paths waiting
patiently for someone to adopt them. Find the right match for your group today. Participants must be at
least 10 years old, and anyone younger than 18 years of age must have adult
supervision. For information, visit the LCDOT website or call 847-377-7472.
The Lake County Division of Transportation recently removed an aging and deteriorating pedestrian bridge on Lewis Avenue in Waukegan and made improvements to the sidewalk so that pedestrians are able to cross safely at Ballentine Street. See how it happened by watching this video.

 Lake County’s
Strategic Plan, which serves as our road map over the next several years,
identifies five strategic goals related to transportation, sustainability,
healthy communities, economic opportunities and public safety. Residents helped
shape the plan by providing input at a series of community forums. Residents
also said they wanted to stay informed on progress being made toward
these goals. In an effort to be more accountable, accessible and transparent,
we’ve posted our progress here.
