Lewis Avenue to Close for Pedestrian Bridge Removal


Waukegan, IL-The Lake County Division of Transportation will be closing Lewis Avenue between York House Road and Sunset Avenue to through traffic on Wednesday, August 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in order to remove the pedestrian bridge. The pedestrian bridge is aging and deteriorating and is not wheelchair assessable. As part of overall project, improvements will be made to the sidewalk to accommodate pedestrians crossing at the signal on Lewis Avenue and Ballentine Street.

The road will be closed to all through traffic at Blanchard Road. Local traffic will have access north and south of Blanchard Road within the area.

Detour route: Yorkhouse Road to McAree to Sunset Avenue
