Road Improvements in District 1

Grass Lake Road

The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will be resurfacing Grass Lake Road from just east of the Grass Lake Road Bridge to the intersection of IL Route 59. As part of this resurfacing, there will be drainage improvements, new pavement markings and landscaping. LCDOT will start in early September and plans to have the project complete by November. Motorists can expect temporary lane closures during the day.

Check Out A New Forest Preserve To Enjoy 
The Lake County Forest Preserves will reach a special milestone this year as the trail designed to extend across the county from Russell Road to Lake Cook Road along the Des Plaines River gets completed this fall. In this County Update, Lake County Forest Preserves President Ann Maine welcomes you to one of her favorite places, Ryerson Conservation Area in Riverwoods to tell you about more than 182 miles of forest preserve trails, the programming and ways you can discover online all the forest preserves can offer. Come To Fred Fest Aug. 15 at Fox River Forest Preserve
Enjoy a day of music and family fun while supporting the Preservation Foundation of the Lake County Forest Preserves at the 3rd Annual Fred Fest. The event will run from 1 p.m. to dusk Aug. 15 at the Fox River Forest Preserve in Port Barrington. The musical lineup features five popular Barrington-area musicians and bands. Also enjoy a full line-up of children’s activities. 


Construction Means Delays. Don’t Rush Through Work Zones

Follow work zone speed limits, even if workers are not present to help keep drivers and workers safe. Work zones have changing conditions, shifting or narrowing lanes, equipment and other potential hazards to motorists that are going too fast or not paying attention. Leaders Meet to Advance Economic Initiatives

Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor, Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle and other leaders from the collar counties and the City of Chicago recently met in Deerfield to collaborate and develop strategies to strengthen the region’s economic development growth opportunities in the areas of freight, logistics and exports. Key topics of discussion concerned the Chicago Metro Metal Consortium, the Metro Chicago Exports Initiative, streamlined truck permitting, Foreign Owned Enterprises and Foreign Direct Investment. All of the presenters remarked on the importance of regional collaboration, the unparalleled talent of our workforce, and the noteworthy strides being made to ensure that businesses in the region have what they need to establish, grow and prosper.

Provide Input On How Stormwater Management Can Improve

The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission seeks your input as to how it can better manage the stormwater issues and needs. The commission's mission is to coordinate stormwater activities of over 90 local jurisdictions to improve water quality, reduce flood damages, and restore and enhance the natural drainage system. Attend one of the scheduled public outreach meetings. You also may provide ideas by completing the following survey. Antioch Lions Host Annual Chicken BBQ and Family Picnic
Join the Antioch Lions Club as they host the 56th annual Chicken BBQ and Family Picnic at 11:30 a.m. July 26 at Williams Park. In addition to usual offerings, there will be a bags tournament, dunk tank and blood drive. The GooRoos will perform at the conclusion of the auction. This is a rain or shine event. 

Check Out Thursday Night Concert Series in Antioch 
Come listen to Journey and other classic rock tunes as And Beyond Peforms July 23 at Antioch's Thursday night concert. The Beatles tribute band Kaleidoscope Eyes will follow on July 30, and then check out the classic and custom car show featuring the Booze Brothers on Aug. 6. All concerts start at 7:30 p.m. at the William E. Brook Memorial Entertainment Center, 902 Skidmore Drive. Details
