The Village of Lake Zurich will partner with National Research Center to find out what residents think about the quality of life in the community, satisfaction with
municipal services, where public resources should be directed, and where they
think the village is headed overall. Over the next couple of weeks, 1,400 randomly selected Lake Zurich households will receive the National

project has been talked about for a long time, but now it is closer to being
built than ever before. Lake County along with local mayors, transportation and
environmental stakeholders have been working with the Illinois Tollway on a
plan for the extension that will reduce traffic congestion, provide
opportunities for economic development and protect open space and the

 Save Money on Prescriptions and Medical Coverage To help Lake County
residents better manage the costs of prescription medications as well as health
and dental services, Lake County is joining a new prescription, health and
dental discount program. The program provides up to 75 percent off
prescriptions and discounts on medical and dental services. The free
prescription discount card and information on the low-cost health and dental
discounts are available at city halls, township offices and libraries

New Williams Consent Decree Drop-In Center to Open July 23 The Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center will open a second drop-in center in Zion for Williams
Consent Decree class members and community members. The New Hope Recovery Center of Lake County will hold its grand opening from 1 to 4 p.m. July 23. Refreshments will be served, and

by July 20 to reserve a spot.
Located at 1022 27th St., the center is designed to provide a nonclinical environment for individuals who have experienced mental health and/or substance abuse issues. The center is a place where individuals can socialize, receive support

Lake County will hold a mobile household chemical waste collection from 8 a.m.
to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at Deerfield High School, 1959 N.
Waukegan Road. No appointment is required.
SWALCO also will hold a household
chemical waste collection July 27 at its Gurnee facility, 1311 N. Estes St. Appointments
are required at this collection to ensure safety and efficiency. Collections are for residential waste only. No business waste will
be accepted. These collections are free for Illinois residents only. Schedule

 Gospel Fest Comes to Greenbelt July 19
Gospel Fest, an annual
gospel tribute will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 19 at the Greenbelt
Cultural Center in
North Chicago. Featuring local choirs, solo performances and praise dancers,
this event will bring you to your feet. This year, come
hear internationally acclaimed Chicago Mass Choir. The event is free and also includes nature
activities. Bring an umbrella, chair or blanket. If raining, the event will be
moved indoors.
Students Put Science First. Learn
More About This Program at Open House
For four weeks this
summer, 32 Lake County middle school students gave up their free time to do
science full time as part of the Science
First in Lake County program. Learn
more about the Science First program at an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 17 at the Greenbelt
Cultural Center in North Chicago. Students will display and discuss findings from their group
research projects. The open house is free and open to the public.

collar counties and the City of Chicago recently met in Deerfield to collaborate
and develop strategies to strengthen the region’s economic development growth
opportunities in the areas of freight, logistics and exports. Key topics of discussion concerned the Chicago Metro Metal Consortium, the Metro Chicago
Exports Initiative, streamlined truck
permitting, Foreign Owned Enterprises and Foreign Direct Investment. All of the
presenters remarked on the importance of regional collaboration, the
unparalleled talent of our workforce, and the noteworthy strides being made to
ensure that businesses in the region have what they need to establish, grow and
prosper.
