 June 5, 2015
 Hello Neighbors,
It was just 45 degrees with rain and wind on Saturday. As I write this, we have come to the end of a glorious day: in the mid-70s, light breeze, full sun. We can depend on this on/off weather over the next few weeks. It's the nature of summer here in the Midwest and here in Lake County!
These months are special and busy. Swimming pools/water parks are now open. Flowers are (finally, we hope) frost-free. The road improvement season is off to a good start with a number of projects in our area. That's good news: more jobs and the knowledge that temporary inconvenience leads to improved travel for years to come.
We have much to enjoy during this season. Read about opportunities and activities in the Forest Preserves, our local parks and fresh markets. It's a great time of the year and we are in a great place to experience all the benefits of the season.
Regards,
Chuck

This is important news for you as a boater or guest on a friends boat. Make this a safe, fun summer.

And,
stay safe on the water by following county laws. A watercraft that is towing a
person must display a bright orange flag at the highest point of the boat’s
helm. Also, all people born after January 1, 1998 must take and pass a boating
safety course validated by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and
hold a valid boating safety certificate. More

 Closing
the Gap on the Des Plaines River Trail
Construction has started on the final section of the Des Plaines River Trail that
extends just south of Riverside Drive and north of Estonian Lane in
Lincolnshire. Completion is expected later this fall. The 8-foot-wide paved
trail will run about 1,600 feet long and close the gap between the existing
northern and southern sections of the trail. During construction,
southbound trail users can still access the Lincolnshire trail to Milwaukee
Avenue. South of the project, the trail will be closed at Estonian Lane. The
trail access point at the rear parking lot of the former Cubby Bear property
also will be closed until the project is complete. Check the website
