Pre-Women's Day Soup and Salad Festival November 8

Baptist Church, located 2201 Foster St., invites you to join them in
celebrating the Pre-Women's Day Soup and Salad Festival on Sat., Nov. 8 from
noon to 3 p.m. Attendees will have the choice of three soups and a variety of
salads for $15 per plate. Participants will also have the opportunity to dine

Don't Forget: Beacon of Light Gala November 15
 The Second Baptist Church of Evanston is hosting its Beacon of Light Gala on Sat., Nov. 15, 6 p.m., at the Hilton Orrington Hotel. Tickets to the black tie event are $150 per person.

 The City of Evanston invites community members to participate in the 9th Annual Paint Evanston Plows Contest by casting their votes online at cityofevanston.org/snowplowcontest. Votes can also be submitted by calling 847-448-4311.
The decorated plow blades are currently on display in front of the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., in Evanston. Voting closes on Mon., Nov. 10 at 5 p.m.

with 17 local organizations that provide services for special needs

 The Evanston Youth Job Center will host a job fair for all job-seekers age 18 and older on Sat., Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave.

Evanston Raises Age to Purchase and Sell Tobacco from 18 to 21
 On Mon., Oct. 27, the Evanston City Council passed an ordinance to change the minimum age to purchase and sell tobacco products from 18 years of age to 21.
Under the new law, which becomes effective on Sat., Nov. 8, 2014, it will be illegal for any person under the age of 21 to purchase or sell cigarettes, tobacco products, or liquid nicotine products (such as electronic cigarettes) in the City of Evanston. Reports estimate that 90 percent of tobacco products purchased for distribution to minors were by individuals under the age of 21.
