                                                                        Motorcycle Crash Investigation

On August 2, 2014 at approximately 2040 hours Evanston Police Officer's responded to a Motorcycle Crash w/injuries. Upon arrival they learned that two motorcycles collided with each other. Initial investigation revealed that Unit 2 (driven by a male . 57 year old Skokie resident) was traveling westbound on Emerson. Unit 1 (driven by a male 30 year old Evanston Resident) was also traveling westbound on Emerson. Upon approaching Hartrey, unit 1 accelerated around a vehicle, using the bike lane, and collided with Unit 2, likely rear ending him.

 

Both riders were ejected and transported to Evanston Hospital with injuries. Unit 2, wearing a helmet, sustained a cervical fracture (non-life threatening) and multiple facial injuries. Unit 1, not wearing a helmet, sustained facial fractures and brain bleeding and is in critical condition in ICU. Doctors at Evanston Hospital are anticipating Unit 1 to recover.
