Starlight Concert Series Kicks Off June 10!

The Concussions

Rock out and celebrate the end of the school year with Michigan-based surf and rock n' roll instrumental group, The Concussions, on Tues., June 10, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., at James Park.

The event kicks off the 2014 Starlight Concert Series, which features 13 free outdoor concerts at seven park locations throughout Evanston. Cheers to summer!

Tour Evanston Art Studios June 7

Open Studios

Get a behind-the-scenes look at Evanston's thriving arts community at the first-ever Open Studios Evanston on Sat., June 7, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

More than 50 artists and arts organizations will open their doors to give community members an exclusive look into galleries and works in progress. Before you begin your tour that day, stop by the Noyes Cultural Arts Center to pick up a map of all the art studios in Evanston. This event is free and open to all ages. View list of studios to tour >>>


Evanston Animal Shelter Pets of the Week: Sweepi and Ferdinand!

Sweepi and Ferdinand are a sweet and friendly 7-year-old sister/brother pair who crave attention. They have wonderful silky fur and love to be petted. Ferdinand is a little unsure in his new surroundings, but feels safer when his brave sister Sweepi is nearby. They even cuddle together in the same basket. A quiet home with lots of love and affection would be the perfect place for this adorable bonded pair.

Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre's Summer Season Begins June 14

Tickets are now on sale for Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre’s 2014 Summer Season, which opens June 14-29 with Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters’ First 100 Years. The season will feature three main stage productions and two concerts.

Pay By Phone for Parking in Evanston with New Mobile App

Parking in Evanston is now more convenient than ever! The City has launched a new pilot program allowing drivers in Evanston to pay for parking from their mobile phones.

The new PassportParking mobile app is currently available for use on the 1600 and 1700 blocks of Sherman Ave., and will be launched citywide later this summer.

Free Summer Lunch Program for Local Youth

Summer Meals

Beginning Wed., June 11, free cold lunches will be served to all youth ages 1-18 on a first-come, first-served basis at locations throughout the city. Lunches will be available daily, Monday through Friday, until August 15. Times, locations and more >>>

The Summer Food Service Program is coordinated by the City of Evanston's Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center and funded by a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education.
