Arboretum Egg Hunt April 19

Evanston youth are invited to participate in the Ladd Arboretum's Egg Hunt on Sat., April 19 at the Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd. Children ages 18 months to 8 years old, as well as children with special needs, will learn about bearded dragons, and take part in activities and crafts. 

All participants must bring a basket or bag for collecting. Preregistration is required, along with a $5 sign-up fee. Residents can choose from four one-hour sessions to best fit their schedules. Register online >>>


Bunny Bash Ice Skating Event April 19

Bunny Bash

On Sat., April 19, residents are invited to attend Robert Crown Community Center's first-ever "Bunny Bash Skate" from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The night will feature giveaways, including gift certificates, assorted chocolate candies, a giant jar of jelly beans and more! Admission is $7 and skate rental is $3. For questions, call the Robert Crown Center at 847-448-8258.


Beach Tokens Are Now For Sale

Beach tokens for the 2014 season are now on sale and may be purchased on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., and at local community centers during their office hours (Robert CrownChandler-NewbergerFleetwood-JourdainLevy Senior Center and Evanston Ecology Center).

Now Hiring for Seasonal Recreation Employment!

Looking for a summer job? The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is now hiring for seasonal positions! 

As part of the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP), applicants who are age 14-18 must attend the job fair on Sat., April 19 at ETHS, 1600 Dodge Ave, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to be eligible for various positions with the City. More >>>

If you haven't registered for a sports or fitness program yet, there are still plenty available starting in the coming weeks, including Youth Basketball, Outdoor Tennis and Adult Yoga/Fitness classes.

Upcoming American Red Cross First Aid Training

Looking to become Red Cross certified? The Chandler-Newberger Community Center offers American Red Cross training programs, including American Red Cross Adult and Child CPR and American Red Cross First Aid Training.

City Athletics Fields' Opening Postponed

Due to harsh winter weather and unsafe field conditions, the opening of City athletic fields has been postponed to mid-April.  

The City is asking for cooperation from sports affiliates and from the general public to stay off the fields until conditions improve. This will ensure that fields are not damaged and provide safe fields for play later this spring and summer. For more information, please email recreation@cityofevanston.org.


Have Fun with Indoor Roller Skating

Take advantage of indoor roller skating at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center, 1655 Foster St., on Fridays, April 4 and 18, and Sundays, April 6 and 27. Chandler-Newberger Center, 1028 Central St., will host roller skating on Saturdays, April 5 - 26.

Evanston youth can skate for free, with skate rental included. Residents 18 and older are asked to make a suggested donation of $3 to skate and $2 for skate rental.

Open Gym Available for Basketball & Pickleball at Levy Center

Throughout April, the Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave., will host open gym for basketball and pickleball. 

Pickleball will be open to the general public, age 18 and older, for free on select Fridays and Sundays. Additionally, on Sundays, open gym basketball will be available to all community members. Fees only apply to adults, 18 and older; $2/residents, $5/non-residents. See the full schedule online >>>


Fun Special Recreation Division Programs Starting Soon

Registration is open for Spring/Summer 2014 programs and classes offered by the Special Recreation Division. They include fitness training, bowling, swimming, track & field, cooking classes and Special Olympics.
