EVANSTON POLICE CHARGE SUSPECT IN HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
The Evanston Police Department working with the North Regional Major Crime Task Force announce the arrest of an offender in the shooting death of 21 year old, Cardereon Preister that occurred on Tuesday night, September 10th at approximately just after 11:00PM in the 1700 block of Leland Ave. Police today charged, Matthew A. Dubose, Age 18 with first degree murder in Preister’s death. The investigation at this time reveals that Preister’s death is believed to be in retaliation for a previous meeting that took place over the summer between Dubose and the victim to exchange drugs and money, for a firearm that the victim had. The exchange went awry between the two, which in turn lead to the murder of Preister several weeks later.
