EVANSTON POLICE SHOP WITH LOCAL YOUTH FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Last week Evanston Police Officers worked with the Salvation Army's program of 'Shop with a Cop" in which lShop with a Copocal youth were accompanied by officers from various units of the police department on a shopping expediation at the Target store on Howard St. in Evanston for "back to school" supplies.

This interaction with youth and officers is a prime example of how the Evanston Police Department works with various non-for-profit organizations to have a positive impact on the younger generation in our community. Our children in society is out most important asset and the interaction between police and youth in a non-adversarial enviroment is fundemental in a city that practices community policing concepts.

A special thank you is extended to Salvation Army Major Colleen Michaud of the Evanston Corps Community Center wo was instrumental in orgainizing this program.
