Alarm testing at Ryan Field will continue Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. over the next week. At City management's request, testing will be limited to these days and hours.
Residents and businesses in the surrounding area may hear intermittent alarm sounds during this time. This is testing only and is not an emergency.
Why is the testing taking place?
To ensure full compliance with building codes, a live test of the entire alarm system is required. Every alarm and speaker must be activated at full volume to confirm that alerts can be clearly heard and understood throughout the venue. Each alarm device, including its audible components, must also be tested. Contractors are conducting the testing now. Once this work is complete, the Evanston Fire Department will conduct its own inspection.
We understand that the testing may be disruptive and appreciate your continued patience as we work to ensure Ryan Field is safe for visitors, neighbors, and staff. We also sincerely appreciate the Ryan Field neighbors who have been patient, flexible, and accommodating throughout this lengthy process as it moves toward completion.
