The City is preparing to begin asphalt pavement crack sealing at approximately 45 sites across the community, beginning the second week of May.
Work is anticipated to begin on May 11 and continue for approximately three weeks, weather permitting. Drivers should expect short delays in specific work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crews. No Parking restrictions will be short and specific to each work area, if needed, and will be posted at least 48 hours in advance of work beginning. The work at each location will typically take 1 to 4 hours to complete. Street sweeping of excess debris is typically done the day after crack sealing is complete, as needed.
This project includes grinding out sections of longitudinal and transverse cracks that have reflected through the asphalt surface. Once the cracks are routed, a fluid, rubberized sealing material is injected back into the cracks to seal them against water infiltration. This is an important step in preserving pavement infrastructure. The contractor will utilize a dust-reducing process during grinding and implement mastic crack sealing, expanding the scope of repairs to include cracks up to 2 inches wide.
Every effort will be made to complete the work in a timely manner to minimize any inconveniences caused by the construction.
